“Into The Mist”

Turn sideways; turn sideways...
Into the mist... Into the light...
As did those who live in the old stories.

Slip beneath the cold, clear surface
Through ancestral waters of memory and belonging

Learn to live between things...
In the subtle fluidity of names and beliefs
In a way that keeps your awareness sharpened to the moment.

Listen to the thin spaces... the liminal places
inside simple explanations
And discipline the mind not to begin questions
It already knows the answers too.

Respond boldly, to the prayers of your decedents;
so that name you carry be the one that carries you
into a story that feeds your people well,
those in this world and in the other.
